Do your bit: donate to Pakistan floods

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

It’s been just six months since the Haiti earthquake, and another overseas disaster reached us earlier this month in August 2010.

We’ve all seen the heartbreaking scenes on the news channels of thousands of people through the Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces, their homes destroyed and access to simple necessities like medical care and clean water severely limited.

Some holidaymakers and villa owners in Murcia may remember La Torre Golf Resort in Murcia, Spain being flooded last September 2009, which of course is nothing compared to the epic disaster seen in Pakistan, with over a thousand confirmed fatalities and 17 million people affected.

Those who can donate, please log on to www.dec.org.uk to find out how you can help today.

Sun 4 U collapse encourages last minute villa bookings in Murcia, Spain

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

It’s not been a happy year for tour operators lately, with the news that Sun 4 U have announced it has had to go into administration, leaving 1200 holidaymakers stranded abroad on the Costa Brava in Spain.

Spanish air traffic strike warning

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

It seems barely a few weeks can go by without seeing news coverage of another employee strike, with numerous reports of the disruption and havoc that inevitably ensues. Unfortunately the Spanish transport sector is no different, as we hear news that air traffic controllers in Spain are warning they plan to strike in August 2010.

The recent British Airways strike caused disruption to holidaymakers who had to re-book and change their travel plans, and flights may be further disrupted for British holidaymakers with over 2,000 air traffic controllers in Spain planning to strike for three days, from the 18th August 2010. If the strike goes ahead, it could disrupt thousands of holidays to Spain during the peak tourist season for British holidaymakers.

Of course, the Spanish government is hoping to avoid the air strike, and is currently in talks to avoid it going ahead. If you’ve booked a villa to rent in Murcia and are worried about the planned strike, keep posted for further news.

Fancy a last-minute holiday to Murcia?

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Sat in the office today, looking out into the grey, cloud-streaked sky it’s hard to imagine the beautiful weather that graced Britain just a few weeks ago. It actually felt like a ‘proper British summer’; donning sleeveless vests and flip-flops to work and treating myself to copious amounts of ice cream (mine’s a double cone with strawberry syrup, please).

There is, of course, always hope; rumours of a heat wave returning to us, and numerous weather reporters are promising temperature rises, but I think I’d rather take my chances on a last-minute holiday to Murcia. The temptation of renting cheap Murcia villas with private pools or, to save even more hard-earned pennies, renting a cheap Murcia apartment, is just too strong, especially considering all the bargain last-minute holidays to Murcia to be had!

Group holiday in Spain? Make it Murcia!

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

We all look forward to our annual holiday, whether we’re going on an adventure of our own, taking our partner or taking the kids. Our holidays are important to us; they give us rest bite, recuperation, relaxation and an all-important treat for our long days at work.

What would the workplace be without that wonderful, wonderful moment of ‘I’m sorry, Mr Boss, I can’t do that report until next week, I’ll be on holiday (cue smug grin). And as much as we dislike packing, we really would miss the battle with the suitcase as we try to fit the third pair of flip-flops and winter jumper, it-will-fit, just in case.

Becoming increasingly popular are group holidays with your friends. With the cost spread between half a dozen or so of you, many people are opting for a second annual holiday to supplement family adventures. Villas in Murcia can be rented cheaply and costs split for food, drinks and car hire. Spain is a particularly attractive destination for group holidays, which is no surprise considering its affordability, short travel time, stunning weather and activities on offer.

A little-travelled area of Spain is Murcia, Costa Calida. Groups can rent cheap villas on Polaris World resorts such as La Torre Golf Resort and El Valle Golf Resort, which offer luxuries such as villas with private pools, modern living areas and all the conveniences you need, right on the doorstep.

Head to the bar with all your mates, sample a few cocktails, enjoy a range of culinary delights at the restaurant, grab a jet ski for some good-ole’ friendly competition (whoever gets to the other side of the beach first, wins…) get those bikinis on and dip your toes, and see who can build the biggest sandcastle before the tide comes in. One of the great benefits of group holidays in Spain is the bonus of letting go, having fun and just enjoying yourself, without it costing the earth.

For a cheap Murcia holiday shared with good friends, book now, and all you’ll have to have to do is decide who gets which room!
