Perhaps one of Murcia’s most famous exports in recent years, Ruth Lorenzo was the sensational Spanish singer that blasted onto the UK’s TV screens in the fifth series of ITV’s X factor talent show.

Mentored by the beautiful Dannii Minogue in the hit TV series, Ruth was born in Spain’s south-eastern region of Murcia and, after living in America and touring in her own band all over Spain, she worked for Polaris World as an entertainer and PR consultant in many of its resorts, including La Torre Golf Resort and Mar Menor Golf Resort.

Joining 12 other competing acts, including the talented boy band JLS, Ruth was placed in the over-25’s category and during each live show strived to impress the British public with her vocal talent in order to gain the same international success as the sensational diva and former winner Leona Lewis.

Week after week, the sassy Spanish singer wowed UK fans and the show’s other judges: Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh with her incredible performances, which included Prince’s “Purple Rain” and Take That’s “Love Ain’t Here Anymore”. Ultimately however, Ruth Lorenzo came fifth in the competition and the British public voted Alexandra Burke as the X factor winner, who’s song ‘Alleluia’ stormed the music charts and reached number one for the coveted Christmas 2008 slot.

Since the show, Ruth has performed in the X factor tour and at live gigs across the UK and Ireland, as well as appeared at the ‘Spirit of Northern Ireland Awards’ and the ‘Bubblegum Clubs 15th Anniversary Party’ in Dublin in April 2009 where she announced she had signed a record deal. Surprisingly, it was later revealed, she has signed a deal with EMI, Virgin Records, and not the speculated Simon Cowell, for £1 million and rumours are circulating that she may well be working with Latin rock band Santana and Steve Tyler from Aerosmith on her debut album.
