Snow chaos in Britain
With thousands of schools closed across the nation, flights at major airports cancelled and rail commuters and motorists experiencing travel chaos, Britain lives through the heaviest snowfall in decades.
With commuters warned to check travel details with their local radio stations before venturing out and drivers told to ‘be prepared with blankets, shovels, water and fully charged mobiles’ if travelling in treacherous icy conditions; the start of the New Year has ground to a halt as millions of employees and school children are forced to stay at home rather than risk travelling in the sub zero conditions.
The current prolonged and unusual climatic conditions are the coldest experienced since December 1981 and the UK is bracing itself for further snowfall expected in southern regions of England later on today.
With many parts of England already totally covered with snow and ice, the latest weather forecast predicting up to 15-20cm of snow across Dorset, Wiltshire, Hampshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire later on today by Met’s Office Chief Forecaster, Tony Water is sure to bring further travel chaos and misery to the UK.
