On Friday 10th September 2010 Paramount Pictures officially announced that it was to create a theme park in Murcia, Spain, bringing months of speculation to an end. The venture will be the first European theme park for the film company and will be a huge boost for the tourist industry on Spain’s Costa Calida.

As of yet, Paramount have not revealed the exact location of the theme park, but it is no surprise that they have chosen Murcia in Spain as their site. Unlike many other regions in Europe, Murcia boasts almost continual good weather, allowing the theme park to run effectively all year. Furthermore, Spain is the third most visited country in the world – in 2009 over 52 million people flocked there, and so the theme park is sure to be a popular choice.

Indeed, it is predicted that the theme park will draw almost three million people every year to appreciate rides based on the films associated with Paramount Pictures. Particularly popular examples which may be incorporated include Forrest Gump, Star Wars, Grease and Lara Croft, as well as the popular children’s film Shrek. It has also been suggested that 20,000 jobs could potentially be created in the region.

For apartment and villa owners with pools in Murcia the news of the Paramount theme park is hugely encouraging. Any new draw to the region is beneficial for both owners and visitors to the El Valle and La Torre Golf Resorts alike. These sites will be a perfect holiday rentals base to visit the new theme park, which will be sure to be a brilliant day out for all the family in Murcia.
