Polaris World open 5 star hotel at La Torre Golf Resort
The global Intercontinental Hotel Group has announced in a press statement that it is to open ten additional hotels in the Iberian Peninsula during 2009 - six in Spain and four in Portugal - to add to the 28 they already have in these two countries.
The first two of the ten will be open by February, and both are in Spain - The Intercontinental La Torre Golf Resort in Murcia and a modern Holiday Inn Express between Madrid and Getafe. After this, Intercontinental Hotels will then add more establishments in Madrid, Barcelona, Pais Vasco, Lisbon, Porto and Albufeira in Portugal's Algarve.
"The [IHG] group will continue its expansion plan," read the statement from Intercontinental Hotels. "Investor and consumer confidence in the group is currently extremely strong, which points to an exciting future for us."
Beyond the Iberian Peninsula, the Intercontinental Hotel Group is continuing to expand throughout Europe, particularly in Germany, where it has seven hotels under construction.
