Paramount Pictures, Murcia to open in 2015

Paramount Pictures have finalised plans for the up-and-coming theme park to be built in Murica. It’s great news for Murcia, as tourism will flourish as an expected 5 million extra holidaymakers will flock to the region to visit the theme park; 50% more than Porta Ventura, currently Spain’s largest theme park.
Jesus Samper, President for the company responsible for the project along with executives from Paramount licensing, explained that the theme park will take four years to construct and is expected to open in 2015.
The new Paramount theme park will consist of three major attractions; ‘City Adventure’ will be based on the film Titanic and will boast a huge reproduction of the ship. The City of Adventure will also host a roller coaster based on ‘The Italian Job’ as well as a virtual reality feature titled ‘Mission Impossible’. The second area will be called ‘Lost Valley’ and a water ride will re-create a trip down the Congo river, alongside a recreation of the crypt from Tomb Raider, as well as a second rollercoaster, inspired by the legend of Beowulf.
The third area is being built specifically with younger children in mind and will be called ‘Woodland Fantasy’. This area will be more tranquil and will be home to a large tree, alongside magic workshops, and interactive adventures, one of which is inspired by the ‘Spiderwick Chronicles’. Adults won’t be disappointed either, as Plaza Futura will offer a cutting edge technology area to feature Star Trek and a recreation of ‘War of the Worlds’, in addition to a ‘passage of terror’ based on ‘Paranormal Activity’.
The centerpiece of the park will feature an avenue flanked by hotels, restaurants and a shopping centre with a pavilion inspired by local attractions of Murcia and Spain. The park will be built on 108 acres of land in Alhama de Murcia, which is conveniently located nearby the newly constructed international airport at Corvera, due to open shortly in 2012. Samper described the park as ‘the envy of Europe’, with Murcia offering 300 days of sunshine a year and an average temperature of 21 degrees.
With over one billion Euros to be invested in the new theme park, Murcia’s economy will be given a huge boost as 10,000 new jobs will be created during the construction. With nearby resorts such as Polaris World’s Mar Menor, La Torre and El Valle Golf Resort offering villas for rent with private pools in Murcia, villa owners hope tol see a surge in year round bookings for holiday rentals in Murcia.
