Currently Spain’s sixth busiest airport, Alicante Airport is due to open its eagerly anticipated new terminal. The terminal is almost ready for operation, just in time for the peak Easter period.

The airport in Alicante is the Costa Blanca's busiest, with the highest numbers of passengers; nine million holidaymakers used the airport’s existing two terminals last year alone. The added terminal will increase the airport’s capacity from nine million to twenty million passengers a year. Holidaymakers will also be able to enjoy upgraded amenities as well as newly built shops, restaurants and bars.

Ignacio Osle, sales and marketing director of Taylor Wimpey de Espana, said: "With an abundance of discounted flight fares available throughout the year and now the increased capacity for passengers that the new terminal in Alicante Airport will provide, the Costa Blanca will continue to be firmly set in the sights of second home owners and holiday makers alike," he added.

The added convenience of more variety of flights will see owners of villas in Murcia benefiting from an increase in holiday rentals bookings. Investors seeking new buy-to-let properties in Murcia will be interested in Polaris World resorts such as El Valle, Mar Menor and La Torre Golf Resort, with their variety of villas with private pools and luxury apartments.
