Murcia to host Spanish semifinal The city of Murcia has been selected by the Spanish Tennis Federation to host September's Davis Cup by BNP Paribas semifinal tie against Israel. The tie will be staged at the Polaris World La Torre Golf Resort on 18-20 September and will be played on clay, subject to a successful ITF site visit. The stadium will have a 12,000 capacity.

Spain has won all three previous meetings with Israel, which has one just one rubber in those three ties.

The last time that Murcia hosted a Davis Cup tie was in 2000, when Spain defeated Italy in a World Group first round tie.

Spain has won its last 16 home Davis Cup ties and its last 18 on clay in the competition. It has played all three of its ties this year at home and could play a fourth at home if it and Czech Republic advance to the final.

Israel is playing his first-ever Davis Cup, having stunned Russia in the quarterfinals in July.
