Murcia's Paramount could open one year early
Those eagerly anticipating the opening of Murcia’s new Paramount Theme Park could have less time to wait than they thought. Plans are being made to begin work on the development as early as February 2012, just 6 months away.
This may allow the park to be completed a year earlier than anticipated.The theme park itself is expected to cost around €300 million to create. On top of this, approximately €1 billion is expected to be spent on extras connected to the park such as shops and hotels.
The park will be the biggest in Europe when it has been completed, covering 37 acres of land. With the land it is being built on added in, the site will be a huge 108 acres. It is expected that the park will receive 5 million visitors a year, with many hoping it will be as successful as the Warner Brothers Park in Madrid, which brings in millions of people a year.
The potential new opening of 2014 would be particularly beneficial as it would coincide with the completion of the high speed train in Murcia. This will run to Madrid and will provide a huge boost to the transport opportunities in the region. Furthermore, the new airport in Corvera will provide an easier and more efficient way to reach the area from further afield. Many believe that this was one of the major influences in the fast tracking of the theme park, as the airport has the potential to welcome 3 million people a year on its various flights.
