It has been confirmed that the land for the Paramount pictures theme park will be officially signed over next month.

This will certainly silence any “doubters” who originally thought that the global economic downturn would force the international brand to back out.

The promoter behind the park and the lifestyle centre (PREMURSA) has announced that the land for the project will be purchased on the 06.02.12 at a price of 15.8 million euros.

Chris Mercer, director of Mercers said  ‘Some have been sceptical about Murcia’s grand plans, understandable given the economic climate, however the Mayor has reiterated the importance of the project in guaranteeing work to a whole generation of young people growing up in Alhama de Murcia,”

“Likewise, if PREMURSA has officially stated its intent to spend almost €16 million next month we can be confident that they have the backing to proceed otherwise €16 million for what is essentially a rather unremarkable piece of land would be a seriously expensive error. All eyes will be on 06 February in anticipation of the biggest step forward in the project to date,’ he added.

774,777 square meters will become the theme park and around 1million square meters will become the lifestyle centre, which will include hotels, restaurants, nightclubs, bars and a state of the art business centre with its own convention centre.

The Paramount pictures theme park requires a one billion Euros investment; however it will create 22,600 construction and operational jobs. The park hopes to attract over three million tourists from across the globe. Building work for this project will begin this year and hopefully will be complete in April 2015.

PREMURSA has been granted the license for an extendable 30 year period to construct and operate the theme park exclusively in Spain. This project could make up 2 % of the region’s GDP in the coming years and will have an incredible economic impact of the Murcia area.

Once the park is completed property prices are set to soar, as the area is set to become a property hot spot. There will also be more demand for rental properties due to the increase in tourists and workers in the region.
